Those who have heard of Alfred Politz probably know him as a research practitioner who contributed to the field marketing. However, not only did Alfred Politz contribute to marketing in a meaningful way, he was an advertising professional in every sense. To his friends and colleagues he was passionate, energetic, bold, and honest; qualities he brought with him in his practice. Despite the fact that his professional career peaked in the 1950s, many of his ideas and contributions to advertising are as applicable today as they were fifty years ago.
This website is dedicated to Alfred Politz and the many significant ideas and contributions he made to the field of advertising. These contributions were made either directly to advertising research and/or as a result of research he conducted. This site was constructed through reviewing interviews with and articles written by Alfred Politz. The information is by no means exhaustive, but is intended to give a glimpse into the many significant ideas and contributions of Politz to the field of advertising. This website is meant to be a source of stimulating thought and inspiration for advertising students and practitioners.
This website was created in partial fulfillment of requirements for a graduate advertising course, "Theories in Persuasive Communication and Consumer Decision-Making," taught by Dr. John Leckenby at the University of Texas at Austin.
