DESIGN NOTES

A word on the content:

In creating this web site, one of the major obstacles I ran into was, quite simply, lack of information. For whatever reason, there simply hasn't been a lot written about Helen Woodward (searches on the Internet, for example, turned up next to nothing), and similarly I was unable to find any pictures of her. For these reasons, most of the information had to be culled from Woodward's own writings.

Unfortunately, the most potentially useful source, her autobiographical Through Many Windows, was unavailable. Still, a couple of texts were particularly useful: Stephen Fox's The Mirror Makers provided a lot of nice detail, and Sharon S. Brock's essay on Woodward from The Ad Men and Women was far and away the most exhaustive study I could find (and that at only 9 pages in length).

Consequently, much of the content presented on this site mirrors that contained in these sources, and anyone interested in learning more about Woodward is encouraged to consult them directly. Despite the lack of direct citations (putting a reference after every other sentence would have been a mite tedious), please be aware that all of the information taken and/or paraphrased from these two works is under copyright by the respective authors and/or publishers.

How'd you do it?

For the actual coding of this site, I used the following resources (in addition to my own hand-tweaking):

Various Apple Macintosh computers

Netscape Gold 3.0 Browser/Editor

Microsoft Word

BBEdit Lite

SimpleText

Fetch

And for the graphics (other than the stuff I scanned):

Netscape Wizard

Randy's Icon and Image Bazaar

ColorCenter

MapQuest

Again, I make no copyright claims on any items borrowed from the above sources, and I heartily encourage you to click on the above links, where applicable, and use them yourself.
