1869: F.W. Ayer opens N.W. Ayer & Son, the first full-service advertising agency.
1875: The agency introduces the open contract, which allows clients to be charged the lowest rates possible.
1879: The first marketing survey results in winning an account for threshing machines away from advertising great George P. Rowell.
1898: Nabisco awards N.W. Ayer and Son with the first $1 million account for Uneeda Biscuit which leads to the first national campaign in advertising history.
1919: N.W. Ayer & Son becomes the first advertising agency to house a Public Relations Department.
1922: The first radio commercial is broadcast on Pittsburgh radio station KDKA for Shuron Optical, who hires N.W. Ayer & Son to create the commercial.
1923: The agency is responsible for the first sponsored radio series, The Eveready Hour.
1924: The first commercial network radio show is sponsored by N.W. Ayer & Son.
1925: N.W. Ayer & Son makes the first commercial adaptation of a full-length play possible.
1926: The agency sponsors the first adaptation of a novel for radio.
1930: The first variety show for radio is sponsored by the agency.
