My Theory of How Advertising Works

Advertising is a conduit.

As indicated throughout the previous discussion, my theory hypothesizes that advertising is a conduit - a conduit, or channel, through which information, solutions, ideas, entertainment, etc. are conveyed to consumers, such as yourself.

We, as individual consumers, know our personal perceived needs and desires. Advertisers must conduct research in order to determine as best they can these needs and desires for targeted advertising. Advertisers, as providers of products and services, communicate with consumers through the advertising channel to provide us with information and alternative solutions.

Advertising is a two-way street, beneficial to both the advertiser and the consumer. Advertising "works" in multiple ways - but each and every tactic utilizes advertising as a conduit.
