FReach Teach Tutorial System

FReach Teach consists of two parts: Media Lessons (including associated media planning cases) and Media Methods (procedures for developing a media plan). Below you will find some sample screens representing the different windows from a FReach Teach (FT ) run. FT could be used for an undergraduate course to assist in teaching students about reach/frequency in media planning. It could be used by students in such a course to develop the flowchart for the media project in such a course. It could be used in a graduate course to teach advanced concepts about effective reach/frequency and optimal reach/frequency planning concepts. Lesson 6, for example, is quite complex and would be beyond the grasp of many undergraduate students. FT can be used at quite a simple level or at a very complex level, depending upon the goals and present understanding of the user. Now, FReach Teach Tutorial has the added feature of being the first media planning system to incorporate a data bank on Internet Site vehicles which can be included in any media plan alone or in combination in a mixed media-type schedule with magazines, cable TV and other "old" media. The window below is the Introductory Window which welcomes the user.

The following is the Main Menu Window of FT showing lesson/case and general layout. Most of the navigation of FT is done from this Main Menu.

Below is a Roadmap frame which the user sees after clicking the "What To Do First" button on the Main Menu above. It gives the general layout of the procedure involved in estimating the standard media evaluation criteria for a selected media schedule.

This image is of the Vehicle Selector Window. In this window, the user selects a media schedule using any one of 8 media data banks included for 10 different target markets in FT. Notice the cost frame at the bottom.

There are three standard pages of Schedule Results. The first page is shown below. It provides the exposure distribution truncated to 10+ exposures as well as the cumulative distribution. The complete untruncated distribution, no matter how large, is s hown in a separate window called the Grid Output Window which is not shown here.

The second page of Schedule Results shows the standard media evaluation criteria such as reach, reach 3+, average frequency, cpm for the schedule and so forth.

The final page of Schedule Results below shows the contents of the schedule and the individual characteristics of each vehicle included in the schedule.

Each schedule can be graphed as shown in the Graph Window below.

Of course, one of the main objectives of media planning is the construction of a flowchart. A sample FlowChart is shown below (View One).

A sample FlowChart (View Two).

Media Planning Window is where the planning phase prior to vehicle selection takes place in FT. This is optional but highly recommended since it will guide the selection process. Plans can be developed for national and spot schedules.

Plans can be saved to file and modified at any time. They also pop up in the Vehicle Selector Window when opened from a file as shown below at the top of the window. The month (and geographic section of the US for spot), GRP goals and Budget goals are s hown for each month/region of the plan. Using the cost/audience frame at the bottom of the this window, the user can select a schedule which may meet his/her goals.

An extensive Help file has been developed for FT. View One of some sample hypertext links is shown below.
