Absolut Marilyn Absolut Absolut Citron

In recent years, advertising has become a method of social reflection and self expression. Advertising has been used as an artistic means to gain attention for products and brands. The Absolut Vodka was a big hit, as it touched a nerve with society. I remember as a college freshman, many of my peers collected these ads and hung them on their dorm room walls as decoration. It was almost an obsession to see who could get the most, the rarest and the coolest. I believe the Absolut ads were so popular, because each, in its own way, reflected a part of society. The Marilyn ad is a reference to icon Marilyn Monroe. It only takes a single look of the ad before you immediately connect it with the famous scene of Marilyn standing over the grate with her dress flying up in the air around her. The Warhol tribute pays homage to advertiser, artist and pop-icon Andy Warhol. The Citron ad is a classic Absolut ad. This represents the beginning of a campaign that touched a nerve in the public and endeared us to Absolut.

Absolut Warhol Andy Warhol was perhaps the first to bring advertisements as art to the fore-front of our society. Educated as an advertiser and trained as an artist, Warhol parodied advertisements by using products as the subject of his artwork. The images used on this site for buttons are examples of Andy Warhol's work.
