up early! run

Radio has always been a one way street. And along came satellite radio and consumers now had the opportunity to find the artist immediately after the song played, yet even then there was no real interaction.

In the future of convergent media, consumers might be able to order cd's and songs from their own personal radios, or even have the opportunity to interact with commercials they hear. Radio in real time would allow consumers them to gather more information, and even have that info sent to their cell or e-mail accounts.

This not only enriches the media itself but the entire experience. Jeff can now replay that song he woke up to, push a button to find the artist, have the lyrics sent to his e-mail and even purchase the cd all before hitting 'snooze.'

This phenomenon is exactly what a company called Interactive Radio Systems is working on.This project, which had been in development since 1996 is taking great strides in the radio industry offering consumers:

-Continuous notice about the current songs and programs
-Uninterrupted research of the customer's favorite song, based on a personal play list.
- The option to download the current song by simply pressing a button.
- A prompt announcement when the system intercepts one of the songs from the favorites list.
- Remote lock and localization of the device in case of theft or loss with a GPS system.
- Free access to the community where the customers can manage their own play lists, find lyrics and music sheets about their songs, news, reviews and more about their favorite artists.
-Purchasing suggestions about their favorite music and all kind of musical edition.
