Season finale on ABC tonight!
The convergence of media has truly put tv in to the basic category. TiVo has taken away commercials, and even the internet has appeared on the big screen however in essence TV, today, is still a one way street.
Several companies have already drawn up plans for a full functioning living space completely controlled from the TV. This space would have a digital music and video library completely eliminating the need for tangible DVD's and CDs. Even the art, lights, temperature, and many other appliances around the house would be centrally controlled from the tv.
Don't lose the remote!

With the continuation of convergence the future of TV could look like this. Tv's may give you the option to find out more information about the show, characters, or even plot as you watch. Games and contests are not about of the question either. And while TiVo gives you the option to skip ads all together, the future TV may actually give consumers a choice in which sponsor they would like to hear from giving consumers the control to pick and choose their total TV experience. |
