There are several media as if they had been 'furniture' at the living room. These media are so familiar for us that we condiser them 'part of our lives'. Among them, TV and Internet are the most popular and current media. TV and Internet are very similar each other in that both were creations of advanced modern technology. At the same time, TV and Internet are different media in that Internet is newly invented after the popularity of TV and overcomes both limitations of time and space TV has. Also, by the time the media has played as familiar 'furniture' on our places, advertising has supported them financially and structurally. The history of advertising is with the history of media. "For more than 50 years, advertisers large and small have financially supported a tremendous variety of programming. Most advertisers have attempted to use the media in positive and constructive ways." (Heighton and Cunningham, 1984, p.22). Advertising has also acquired communication channels to reach their target consumers. The relationship between media and advertising was close, strong and long-lasting. This paper focuses on network TV and Internet/WWW in terms of advertising, reviewing historical insights on how TV and Internet/WWW have developed and how they are different as well as similar as advertising media.
